In the autumn of 1991, the first priority for Christina Williams was redesigning of the courtyard and the lawns beyond.
To echo the Tudor architecture of the tower, the courtyard design was based on Elizabethan knot gardens, and the quatrefoil pool was inspired by the stone detailing on the house. Much care has been taken to create the impression of symmetry in what is, in reality, a highly asymmetric space.
